Grandma Turns 80

Today we celebrated Grandma Carpenter turning 80 years young! All the grandkids drove up to Queen Creek to meet Grandma and Grandpa at the Olive Garden for dinner. We left our kids at home and made it an adults only event. Everyone was able to make it, except for Benjamin and Katie, who are in Colorado. It was really nice to see everyone and to be able to celebrate the birthday of such a wonderful and sweet woman as Grandma Carpenter! We love you Grandma, Happy Birthday!

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school! Aidan started first grade, and Emma started Kindergarten. School starts at 7:45 am, so Matthew will start taking the kids to school on his way to work. They were both really excited (and nervous, especially Emma) to go to school. I can't believe how big and grown up they look! I hope this year for both of them is as wonderful and growth producing as last year was! Here's to a great year at Mesquite!

To The Beat of His Own Drum

Parker is a very unique and funny kid. We have been potty training him (and by we, I mean me.) I am happy to announce that he is fully trained and I am now down to just one in diapers!! But most days, he likes to hang out in his undies, and his new accessory of choice is Aidan's shark bike helmet. I love that Parker is quirky and sweet and a little bit of an odd ball. He makes me laugh every day and I love watching his personality take shape. It's safe to say that he's my favorite three year old on the planet!

Fourth of July, the dreaded day I turn 35...

So, this is the day I have been dreading. I turned 35 today. I am proud to say that I only cried a little, and was a good sport when everyone sang Happy Birthday to me. We spent the afternoon at the in laws swimming, eating, playing games, and very much enjoying the rain. The best part of my birthday in fact!

I am definitely starting to chunk out...I was trying to use Samantha to shield my tummy, but it didn't work.

Everyone of my kids is in love with Samantha. Emma was very excited to get to play with her.

Fun in the mud!
Overall it was a good day. We went home and had dinner and cake and I got to go to bed early. We watched fireworks from our street and it was a low key evening just us. I got some really nice gifts from Matthew and my mom and the kids made me cards and sang to me at different times throughout the day. Matthew only made one crack about me being of advanced maternal age, so all in all I can't complain : )
