Names

Matthew and I have settled on a boys name--but for the life of us, can not come up with a girls name we both like. Any suggestions?

Franken-Parker

On Monday night Parker and Emma were playing with Aidan's step stool, climbing on and off the bed, when we heard a scream, followed by very intense crying. The first sign of trouble. We went into the boys room to see Parker's face covered in blood and a rather deep gash over his left eye. I called my mom, and luckily she was able to come right over. We took Parker to the TMC pediatric ER, where he received 5 stitches. I ended up leaving the room bawling after the third stitch was put in, and when it was all over Matthew was a white as a ghost and said he thought he was going to faint. I got the nurse and she made him lie down, elevating his feet above his head, and making him drink juice and eat cookies. We were both surprised and rather embarrassed by our reactions. What a pathetic pair of parents we are indeed :)

Parker however, was a trooper. He didn't like being wrapped in a sheet and held down during the procedure, but was crying out of annoyance and not pain. Once it was all over, he was smiling and happy and flirting with the nurses. I, however, had puffy eyes and Matthew looked half dead. Hopefully we won't have to make another trip to the hospital with Parker any time soon. This was our second trip for a head wound in a month!

The big weigh in

Well, it's official, my little runt finally hit 20 pounds! At his one year check up he was only 18 pounds 11 ounces, which put him in the one percentile for weight. Our pediatrician told us to feed him whatever he would eat--candy, cheesecake, butter on everything, and to try pedi-sure. We did all of that, and after a month he gained a pound and a little and although we have to keep him on the pedi-sure until 18 months, I am happy that he is gaining weight. I have to say though, that Parker has been our most expensive child by far. First he was on "liquid gold" the alimentium formula that was around $30.00 for 16 ounces, then he had to have the helmet, which cost a few thousand dollars (yeah for good insurance coverage) and now the pedi-sure that is rather pricey, too. Good thing he's cute!
